The ACM Looking Forward (Dr. Paul S. Jones)

On May 18, 2010, The ACM Board voted to appoint Paul Jones as its interim Executive Director. In addition to his new responsibilities, Dr. Jones is Organist and Music Director at Tenth Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, PA, where he oversees the music ministry, music education program, and Concert Series. He also serves as Adjunct Associate Professor of Choral Music at Temple University, as President of Paul Jones Music, Inc., and is a Council member of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals.

The Alliance of Christian Musicians has an important purpose—to be a resource and encouragement to church musicians who are concerned about the integrity of their work as it relates to the worship of God.

Since its inception Vince Treadway has led this organization, and we want to thank him for the enormous contribution of time and leadership he has brought to us. We trust that he will return to the helm as Executive Director in a year or so after he is settled in his new Florida church post. In the interim I have agreed to serve, although with the understanding that I cannot devote the kind of energy to the organization that Vince
has. So I am particularly thankful that Lisa Ridenour has become the Regional Director for our Middle States/Northeast region. She is a real go-getter who has both great ideas and the energy to make them happen.

I am excited to see what the Lord is doing in the Pacific Northwest through the vision and work of Ron Bechtel and his team. For this year our national Church Music Symposium will be the PNW chapter’s Fall event (October15, 2010), and I hope many of you will take the trip to beautiful Tacoma, WA to participate in it. I would also like to encourage any of you who can to attend the first annual Reformation Worship Conference being held in Atlanta, GA (October 21-24, 2010) as well. If you register by the end of August, you can save money. Visit www.reformedworship.com to learn more. We are sending the brochure for that conference as an email
along with this edition of The Herald for your information. Some real leaders in Reformed worship will be speaking,
including Sinclair Ferguson, Hughes Oliphant Old, Terry Johnson, Mark Ross, and others. Samuel Metzger, organist,
and ACM member will be performing as well.
